Twenty-five Years of Bushcare at Sublime Point Reserve Leura

Author(s): David Coleby

Blue Mountains Animals & Nature

Twenty-Five Years of Bushcare at Sublime Point Reserve, Leura is a new book that records the environmental restoration of a formerly degraded public Reserve in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

The author, David Coleby, was instrumental in the formation of the Sublime Point Bushcare Group in 1996, and has led that group ever since in the restoration process.

After 25 years the Reserve is now a public asset for personal recreation along a network of well-maintained walking tracks. It lies alongside Sublime Point Road and attracts family groups, bushwalkers, birdwatchers, and environmentalists. It is also part of the proposed clifftop protection of Council’s Southern Escarpment Masterplan (2018). Western parts of the Reserve have good views of the Three Sisters at Katoomba.

The book (A5, 40 pages plus covers, in full colour), includes a foreword by the Mayor of Blue Mountains City Council, Mark Greenhill OAM.

There are over 90 photographs, 4 tables, a location map, a rainfall graph, a sketch, and 9 references.
