Abercrombie Caves have a rich history which we captured in this publication. Included are chapters covering the Wiraduri connection to Abercrombie Caves, early European exploration and impacts of the gold rush, together with the history of development of the area for tourists. We include chapters about cave formation, mineralogy, geology, and the challenges of managing karst areas. This publication aims to pay respect to the books and work of cavers that have come before it. We have utilised and consolidated the material from these earlier explorers in our chapter on karst landforms. We provide basic cave descriptions together with a selection of cave maps to illustrate the style of caves typical to the area.
